Pupy first rose to fame as an outstanding pianist in Elio Revé’s mighty Orquesta Revé, and then as the founding member, along with Juan Formell, of Cuba’s most popular dance band, Los Van Van. During his 32 years with the band he composed some of their greatest hits: “Seis Semanas”, “El Buenagente”, “Disco Azúcar”, “Eso Está bueno”, “El Negro Está Cocinando”, “Temba, Tumba y Timba”, “La bomba Soy Yo”, “Ni Bombones Ni Caramelos”, and “¡Qué cosas tiene la vida!”, to name but a few. Anthems which every Cuban knows by heart to this day.
In 2001 he left Los Van Van to form Pupy Y Los Que Son Son. And if his music had been good before, with the new band it went ballistic! As well as producing thrilling new versions of many of his popular Los Van Van songs in the intervening 14 years, his extraordinarily infectious blending of “Son con Rumba” continues to inspire dancers across the world to this day: “Me Estan Llamando”, “El Cache”, “Un Loco Con Una Moto”, “Un Poquito Al Reves”, “De La Timba A Pogglotti”, “A La Italiana”, “La Machucadera”. The list goes on and on. In an island of musical prodigies, Pupy really does stand out. Ask your local specialist Cuban DJ who their favourite artist is. That’s right. You’ve guessed it!

“Pupy” Cesar de a Mercedes Pedroso Fernandez & Los que Son Son
PUPY CESAR PEDROSO & LOS QUE SON SON
After a three year absence felt, return to European stages in October / November 2014, King Tumbao Cuban, brother of Los Van Van, teacher of teachers: PupyPedroso. National Music Award in 2013,
A fine to the tune of “those who are” return to Changüí to Songo, the charanga, smelling East with that chago-son inspired him Changuito, mixed with vocals and themes definitely modern, as he says in UNLIMITED, it is good to grow old, if we talk about experience, “bottle” domain of a dance universe, festive, listening to the people, the dancer.
Pupy has its cachet, the “cache” that of a tireless seeker of new ideas and constant composer natural condition.
We all know that if you talk about popular music, must be taken into account, as PUPY comes from an authentic family of musicians. His father was Caesar “Nene” Pedroso, a pianist who played with Chapottín, “Orquesta Feeling” and other sets; July, his grandfather, served as director of the orchestra “Cuba”; his uncle, Pius known as “showcase” was güirista of “Arcaño Orchestra and its wonders.” Also his brother Victor Herrera is currently director of the “Orchestra Feeling” and his brother Julio Zaldivar’s drummer “ICRT Orchestra” (Cuban Institute of Radio and Television) Undoubtedly, “Pupy” received a great influence on downloads Cheo Marquetti, Abelardo Barroso, Rafael Ortiz, Felix Reina, among others … even Arcaño orchestra, as this was rehearsing on the piano in the house of the Pedroso. With time and progress on key his father sent him to make substitutions for various groups, where on several occasions did not give the size and that forced him to study with more rigor.
In 1957 he joined the Conjunto “New Cuba”, directed by Eduardo Dominguez. By then he replaced his father in the group “Sensation” and “Chapottín”. In June 1964 it was 18 years fixed in the orchestra “Fascination”. Two years later, at the request of Elio Reve, it became the pianist of “Charangón”. He was the musical director of this group, when Elio Reve introduced him to Juan Formell. This drew him with his musical interests and from December 1969 undertook the way of Songo and “Los Van Van” were created.

César “Pupy” Pedroso said its importance in Cuban musical history as a pianist, arranger and composer of “Los Van Van” for 32 years. In this period arose about 50 compositions, among which are: “Six Weeks”, “The Buenagente”, “Sugar”, “Is it over?” “That’s good,” “The black is cooking” “Temba, Grave and Timba”, “Pump me”, “No chocolates and candies”, “bulky”, “Mommy behave yourself”, “What things have life!”, “The Crier”, etc.
All issues were decisive successes in the history of the orchestra and constituted a school within the overall teaching of “Pupy”. Having worked with Elio Revé and Juan Formell earned him his training. Won the 1999 Grammy Award for his participation in the CD “Permission came Van Van”, which included three themes: “Temba tomb timba,” “The black is cooking” and “Pump me,” composed and arranged by “Pupy”.
